Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and support to students at all times.
- Implement individualized education and behavior plans under the guidance of the classroom team.
- Auxiliary daily activities, including personal care such as feeding, toileting, hygiene, and use of feeding tubes if required.
- Document student behaviors, incidents, and progress as required.
- Use approved behavior management techniques to support students in crisis.
- Serve as a positive role model by modeling appropriate behavior, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Transport students to community activities as needed.
- Attend required trainings and team meetings to ensure ongoing professional development and compliance with program expectations.
- Collaborate in a team-based environment to support a positive and effective learning space.
- Support classroom needs by notifying teachers when materials or adjustments are necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is a plus.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook; experience with data entry systems is preferred.
