Summary

Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking a School Counselor. The School Counselor supports each child's optimal development and fulfills the school's mission and philosophy.

Position Responsibilities

• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Safeguard confidentiality regarding school matters
• Adhere to safety training and protocols
• Implement a comprehensive counseling program including classroom guidance, individual counseling, small group counseling, crisis counseling, and consultation services
• Collaborate with campus administration and staff on the campus guidance program
• Guide students in educational and career planning
• Attend discipline, attendance, and academic review committee meetings as needed
• Provide consultation to campus administration and staff to support student development
• Consult with the Director of Counseling and Student Services on additional support needs
• Follow ASCA ethical & professional standards
• Maintain an open and collaborative relationship with the administration, faculty, and staff
• Coordinate and collaborate with teachers and staff to provide care for all students
• Make referrals and follow-up with community providers/specialists as necessary
• Utilize data for campus counseling program evaluation and planning
• Absorb all school matters and student documentation confidentially
• Perform duties consistent with the policies of the School and the Archdiocese of San Antonio

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work with relevant coursework
• Certification or licensure preferred (school counselor state certification, licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed master social worker)
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
