About the role
The Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Corpus Christi Area, providing direct counseling services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
- Interpret to clients the services offered by the agency and facilitate their entry into any program or component as appropriate
- Collaborate with shelter, outreach, and advocacy in long-range planning as requested to ensure continuing quality service delivery to clients and the community
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation
- Accompany clients to court as requested and as possible
- Advocate for clients by providing appropriate referrals for services with other agencies
- Contribute to outreach and education efforts that promote awareness of services and support a compassionate, inclusive environment for all survivors
Qualifications
- Master's degree in human service field
- LPC or LMSW preferred
- Knowledge regarding dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, facilitate groups, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate records, managing caseloads, and adhering to confidentiality and compliance standards
- Cultural humility and the ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
- Non-traditional hours to include some evening and weekend hours possible
- Some travel requiring a valid driver's license and personal, insured vehicle for use on the job required
