  • Comprehensive assessment of inmates’ substance abuse history and treatment requirements; develop individualized treatment plans; document all assessment and treatment planning
  • Present individual counseling and group lectures/didactic presentations weekly on Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, Parenting Skills, Life Skills, Criminal & Addictive Behaviors, and Co-occurring Disorders
  • Facilitate psycho-educational/behavior modification groups using “What Works” system principles; document attendance, participation, and progress in company database
  • Conduct risk/need assessments and create individual treatment plans for each assigned participant; meet regularly with participants and document progress/regress
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation including intake summaries, group notes, discharge summaries, treatment plans and updates; update therapeutic logs and enter information into company database in a timely manner
  • Identify problem areas impacting successful treatment completion; guide participants to develop strategies to overcome obstacles
  • May advise customer of participants’ progress regularly or at treatment completion
  • May maintain specific substance abuse treatment case files for every program participant
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques and conflict resolution strategies as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Preference given to experience within a correctional setting
  • Ability to interact professionally in individual and group counseling settings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and implement team strategy approaches
  • Ability to work with computers and necessary software typically used by the department
  • Good organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities appropriately
  • Ability to perform financial management and budgeting
