Core Responsibilities
- Supports and models the Catholic Mission and the Native American Culture that are the foundations of St. Joseph’s Indian School.
- Empowers staff to be able to promote a reclaiming environment for all students through the Circle of Courage.
- Captures and coordinates individual, group, and family counseling sessions for identified students.
- Collaborates with other departments to facilitate interdisciplinary services for students.
- Communicates regularly with students' parents/guardians through visits or other contacts, providing and receiving information.
- Facilitates classroom guidance activities and home enrichment activities as requested.
- Completes student observations, documentation, and service plan meetings.
- Updates Counseling Services documentation and reports, and monitors progress on assigned students receiving special counseling services.
- Assists with crisis intervention services and participates in the on-call residential rotation.
- Aids in admission procedures and documentation, including preparing materials for children on the waiting list and their families.
- Reports cases of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse to the proper authorities and notifies the Counseling Services Director.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or enrollment in a Master’s program (Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology).
- Computer literacy.
- Licensure preferred.
Physical Demands
- Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
- Driving is required.
- Some supervision may require standing for prolonged periods.
