Counselor

About the role

Full‑time Addiction Counselor position located in Keyser, WV, working in an outpatient/hybrid setting. Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM. We are seeking an experienced Addiction Counselor to provide compassionate, trauma‑informed care to adults with substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual interviews and screening assessments with patients to determine treatment needs and appropriate levels of care.
• Assess patients for substance use and co‑occurring mental health concerns.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and assessment findings.
• Use a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed, and gender‑responsive approach when working with patients.
• Collaborate with patients, families, referral sources, and internal/external treatment teams to coordinate care.
• Provide clinical consultation and support to patients, families, mentors, and referral resources as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or another related health field required.
• Minimum 1‑2 years of clinical experience in an alcohol and other drug (AOD), substance use, behavioral health, or mental health setting required.
• Experience working with individuals with substance use and/or co‑occurring disorders preferred.
• Experience in trauma‑informed care preferred.
• Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapies, DBT, motivational therapies, and recovery support systems preferred.
