Responsibilities
- Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation, monitoring and review
- Facilitates activities of daily living, community meetings, engagement, carrying out treatment planning in milieu
- Provides therapeutic interactions to foster patients social, cognitive and behavioral skill development
- Supervises milieu staff
- Provides psychosocial interventions to teach skills for coping with urges, craving, impulsive behavior and cognitive distortions in thinking, motivational interviewing techniques
- Provides individual, group and family counseling
- Plans and facilitates interactions with residents within the milieu to build social, emotional, and behavioral functioning
- Aids in supervision of activities related to establishing a treatment environment
- Prepares and maintains case records
- Aids in the medication room in case of emergency
Requirements
- Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is required
- Minimum two years in a behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program
- Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency

Job Details
- Long Island City Residential – Queens, NY
- Full Time-non-exempt
- Salary range $20.48 - $30.00 hourly
- Job Shift Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, however, the facility is a 24/7 365-day operating facility
- Shuttle services are provided for staff, pick up and drop off to and from the train stations in Long Island City, making the commute easier and more convenient
- Shuttle Service For Staff Operates During The Following Hours Morning: 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM Evening: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Work Environment
- This job operates in an indoor office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to type, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
