About the Role

Grand Canyon University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences offers fulfilling opportunities for adjunct faculty to teach part-time, remotely. As an instructor, you will guide students through the Counseling Practicum and subsequent internship courses, providing high-quality instruction in a modern, collaborative environment with smaller class sizes.

Candidates must be available for a committed 44 weeks on either Mondays or Thursdays (their choice) for a weekly Zoom call from 4:00 - 5:30 pm AZ time. These days and times are non-negotiable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise clinical training for Counselors-in-Training (CITs) under the guidance of an approved clinical site supervisor and faculty supervisor.
  • Provide oversight of students’ clinical training and documentation, including facilitating synchronous group supervision.
  • Support students in meeting established hour requirements (individual supervision and direct client contact) and complying with program and state licensure expectations.
  • Teach the following courses: Counseling Practicum, Counseling Practicum II, Counseling Internship I, Counseling Internship II, and Counseling Internship III.
  • Guide students from Practicum through Internship I and Internship II over a 44-week period.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in Counselor Education, or Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or related counseling degree and 5 years of work experience as an Independent Licensed Counselor.
  • Independent licensure in counseling or a closely related field (e.g., LPC, LMHC, LCPC, or equivalent).
  • Relevant training for in-person and/or distance counseling supervision.
  • Relevant training in the technology utilized for supervision.
  • Maintain an active membership in a recognized counseling association.
  • Evidence of experience in one or more of the following areas: counseling advocacy; research or other scholarly work; at least two years of clinical practice; or counselor education.
