Counseling Intern, Graduate Level (SUD)

About the role

Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) is a rare and special place where outstanding company culture is intentional. Clients and associates are treated the same, as equals. MHC was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. We now serve children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee. Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty.

Responsibilities

• Carry a small case load and provide point of care and psychotherapy to clients of various ages.
• Utilize therapeutic modalities such as TF-CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, CBT, DBT, and play therapy.
• Play a role in the client's treatment team with other departments throughout the agency.
• Participate in additional learning and training opportunities.

Requirements

• MHC can accommodate up to 5 interns in the Therapy department.
• Interns must be master’s level students in a social work, counseling, or psychology program.
• This internship requires a two-semester commitment.
