Counsel, Litigation
About the role
The position would sit in Wichita, Kansas. This role is eligible for relocation assistance.
Responsibilities
- Handle significant environmental, energy, and regulatory litigation matters
- Oversee large-scale ediscovery efforts, including data collection, document review, and document production
- Leverage legal technology, data analytics, and AI tools to improve litigation workflows and streamline ediscovery efforts
- Develop and execute litigation strategy, including pleadings, expert development, discovery, and dispositive motions
- Direct and partner with outside counsel, ensuring alignment on strategy, efficiency, and outcomes
- Participate in expert witness strategy, including selection, development, and assessment of opposing experts
- Support broader strategic initiatives, including regulatory challenges and public policy efforts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal stakeholders, contract attorneys, and external providers
Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school and active member of a state bar in good standing
- Experience in complex commercial, environmental, mass tort, or regulatory litigation
Qualifications
- Proven ability to handle discovery, including ediscovery, in complex, data-intensive cases
- Strong track record developing and executing litigation strategy in high-stakes matters
- Experience managing outside counsel and expert witnesses
- Comfort adopting and applying legal technology and AI tools to improve outcomes
- Strong business judgment and ability to translate legal complexity into practical guidance
- Experience engaging in regulatory or public policy-related litigation or advocacy
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- First or second chair trial experience and significant dispositive motion practice
