Responsibilities

  • Oversee aspects of litigation related matters (respond to subpoenas, conduct document collections, review, and productions, prepare witnesses for depositions, review pleadings and briefs, etc.)
  • Review and evaluate litigation, litigation opportunities, and litigation risk in various domestic and international jurisdictions
  • Work with and oversee outside counsel on a variety of legal matters, ensuring that standards for service delivery and cost are controlled efficiently
  • Work with client services and sales departments to respond to client and prospective client inquiries regarding litigation and regulatory inquiries
  • Contribute to the development of practical controls, policies, governance, and general practices for AI
  • Review, advise on, and manage legal and regulatory risks of proposed uses of AI and AI tools
  • Lead the development of a global approach to AI governance and responsible use
  • Advise on evolving AI regulation, including the EU AI Act and other AI statutes
  • Perform additional responsibilities in the Legal Department as requested

Qualifications

  • Six plus years of practicing law with domestic and international securities or financial services litigation experience. Preferably with a top-tier law firm, with a regulator or in the legal department of a broker dealer and/or investment adviser
  • Experience with e-discovery
  • Experience using AI tools in a legal environment
  • Experience developing AI processes and policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as an ability to communicate with non-lawyer business partners in a clear and understandable way
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple time-sensitive projects involving different business and support groups on a cross-functional basis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with Investment Company Act of 1940, Investment Advisers Act, and/or cybersecurity laws considered a bonus, but not required
  • JD from a top law school
  • Member of Texas State Bar preferred; Member of a US State Bar required
