Job Description

The Counsel, Corporate Legal Affairs will provide legal support across a broad range of software and technology licensing, professional services, confidentiality, and related commercial transactions for NBCUniversal, with a focus on corporate operations, information technology, human resources, and other enterprise functions. This role will serve as a practical and solutions-oriented legal partner to internal stakeholders, advising on contract terms, risk allocation, and related legal issues while helping to advance business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support for a portfolio of agreements and internal stakeholders, primarily for NBCUniversal’s Sourcing and Operations & Technology groups
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and support a variety of corporate transaction agreements for NBCUniversal and its various business units, including M&A and related activities
  • Advis[e] clients regarding contractual rights and duties, matters of contract interpretation, and pre-litigation dispute resolution
  • C[o]ordinate with Privacy, Information Security, and Compliance teams to ensure personal data and confidential information is collected, used, and secured in accordance with company requirements and evolving law

Qualifications

  • Basic Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school Must be admitted to the New York State Bar or eligible to register as in-house counsel in New York 4+ years of experience at law firm or comparable in-house position
  • Desired Characteristics: Prior experience regarding M&A, technology, data security, or intellectual property issues is a plus Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to juggle and prioritize a high volume of deals and deadlines Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment, as a good-natured and enthusiastic team player Eagerness and proven ability to adapt and develop new expertise as business needs and technologies evolve Capable, comfortable with, and committed to providing timely and practical guidance to business team members at all levels
