About the role
Southeast Toyota Finance (SETF) is seeking an in-house attorney to join their team. The position reports to the Associate General Counsel and offers a hybrid work schedule with the flexibility to work from home two days a week.
Responsibilities
- Provide counsel to management and employees on federal and state consumer finance laws, regulations and compliance requirements in the automotive industry.
- Work closely with the company’s compliance department on a variety of legal and compliance matters.
- Draft and maintain a variety of consumer finance contracts, leases and forms.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of company policies, procedures, and guidelines to align with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with external counsel to handle litigation matters, including disputes, regulatory inquiries, and consumer complaints, and assist in developing effective resolution strategies.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on various issues related to automotive consumer finance, advising the company on the implications of legal developments in connection with business operations.
Qualifications
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to The Florida Bar or qualification as Authorized In-House Counsel.
- 3-5 years of in-house or major law firm experience, preferably in consumer finance, consumer compliance, information security and privacy, and/or related practice areas.
- Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
- Litigation management experience is a plus.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to handling legal challenges in a dynamic business environment.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with internal and external contacts at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Highly analytical and curious, with the ability to multi-task while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with online legal research tools, and the MS Office suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
