Cajun Industries, LLC (“Cajun”) is seeking an experienced Construction Law attorney to join our team as Counsel. This role provides support across the organization on a wide variety of legal matters.
About the Role
Advise Cajun’s internal legal and support teams on contracts, safety, health, environmental, leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, employment, HR, insurance, litigation, dispute resolution, and other legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal advice to ensure the company operates within the law and champions a corporate culture emphasizing transparency, safety, employee development, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Handle legal matters arising from one or more functional organizations and/or business units.
- Draft and review various commercial and construction-related agreements, negotiating key terms and conditions with business clients.
- Provide real-time, practical legal advice to manage risk exposure, risk avoidance, and dispute avoidance.
- Coordinate with other in-house counsel on broader issues crossing subject matters, business units, or state/country borders.
- Engage internal and external resources to manage legal work, including identifying strategies, articulating scope, controlling costs, managing outside counsel, and meeting deadlines.
- Maintain organized records of all legal documents and proceedings.
- Independently manage or support other in-house counsel in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and discovery processes.
- Evaluate and manage outside counsel as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (technical field a plus) and Juris Doctorate.
- Active state bar admission, preferably Texas or Louisiana, or licensed in a jurisdiction allowing in-house registration with the Louisiana Bar.
- Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in Construction Law or a related field.
- Prior in-house experience is a plus.
