About the role
SSM Health Day Institute is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to work in their specialized outpatient rehabilitation program. The program serves individuals recovering from traumatic injuries or illnesses who no longer need 24-hour nursing or acute rehabilitative care. The position involves a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to help patients build skills and regain independence.
Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of a licensed occupational therapist, implements the therapy plan of care in the Day Room Setting
- Delegates and directs support personnel for assigned patients to enhance patient care services in the Day Room Setting
- Participates in patient education, both individually and in groups, supporting therapeutic goals
- Affords assistance to patients moving between mats, wheelchairs, and other equipment as necessary
- Assists with patient-related treatment activities as directed
- Engages with patients in individual and group settings, initiating tasks and facilitating groups
- Documents and charges for skilled activities as required
- Upgrades and downgrades tasks for patient engagement
- Plans and transports patients for community reintegration outings
- Maintains the clinic and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Transports patients to and from therapy sessions as needed
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required
- Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA required
- CPR certification required
- Class E license for operating the shuttle bus required before start date
- Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy center preferred
Qualifications
- Passing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
- First aid certification

Pay
$23/hour with potential for increases based on experience
