About the role

SSM Health Day Institute is seeking a COTA to work in their specialized outpatient rehabilitation program. The program serves individuals recovering from a traumatic injury or illness who no longer require 24-hour nursing or acute rehabilitative care. The position involves a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to help patients build skills and maximize independence.

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of licensed OT, assists with the implementation of therapy plan of care in the Day Room Setting
• Delegates and directs support personnel for assigned patients to enhance patient care services in the Day Room Setting
• Participates in patient education, including education of patients, families, coworkers, and self
• Affords assistance to patients, including transfers, and treatment activities as appropriate
• Engages with patients, supporting therapeutic goals in individual and group settings; initiates tasks and facilitates groups
• Documents and charges for skilled activities as applicable
• Upgrades and downgrades tasks for patient engagement
• Plans and transports for Community Reintegration Outings
• Maintains clinic and equipment cleanliness and orderliness
• Transports patients to/from therapy as needed

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required
• Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required
• CPR certification
• Current State Driver’s License in good standing required: Acquisition of a Class E license allowing for the operation of the bus

Qualifications

• Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy center preferred

Pay

$23/hour increases based on experience
