About the role

Organize, prepare, and manage all aspects related to cost management and pricing for a tender (from opportunity review to bid handover meeting). Support the Project team on all cost-related matters through project review. This position reports to the Bid Director.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost data for the pre-bid phase and various bid reviews.
  • Assist the Bid Manager in preparing the Instruction For Quotation (IFQ) in line with the pricing strategy.
  • Define the cost structure of the submission based on sales requirements.
  • Set target costs per activity and/or subsystem, aligning with the winning price and gaps identified against the reference solution.
  • Prepare the price submission to the client, including prices/costs from partners if Alstom is the lead.
  • Manage cost estimation activities based on the target cost approach with all participating units and functions.
  • Drive cost improvement actions to meet the bid’s target cost/price using all competitiveness levers and challenging contributors.
  • Collaborate with the central finance team to calculate "other costs" (bonds, financing, hedging, insurance, taxes, etc.).
  • Consolidate the bid’s cost commitments in accordance with financial rules.
  • Monitor the robustness of costs (consistency between scope of work, received costs, and planning).
  • Proactively support the Bid Manager during the bid validation process.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree and/or Business School diploma with at least 5 years of experience in the industry, ideally in the rail sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand products, operational flows, and associated cost impacts.
  • Experience in developing cost models and using value analysis models, analyzing, and challenging contributors' commitments.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong rigor and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working in matrix environments and organizations.
