About the role
American Hydro, a leading supplier and installer of large equipment for the hydroelectric industry, is seeking an Industrial Manufacturing Estimator to join our team at our York, PA facility. We specialize in design, engineering, precision CNC manufacturing, upgrades, and servicing of high-performance hydro turbines and large pumps. This role is primarily responsible for preparing cost estimates for marketing proposals and communicating technical and process information required for the procurement of manufacturing-related services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates for labor and materials required to complete specified scopes of work.
- Review customer inquiry documents and compile detailed cost estimates.
- Select appropriate manufacturing processes, determine the sequence of operations, and calculate labor hours required to manufacture parts within contract specifications.
- Create detailed written technical scopes of supply to accompany cost estimates.
- Communicate specifications, quality requirements, delivery expectations, and processing information to the purchasing department for procurement of manufacturing-related services.
- Demonstrate strong engineering drawing interpretation skills and visualize all aspects of manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Ensure compliance with ISO Quality Standards as they relate to assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications and data while staying current with modern manufacturing trends.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagram form and work with both abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical Engineer (P.E.) designation is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Experience with Primavera P6 data entry is a plus.
