Responsibilities

  • Provide cost information and options during design choices, including value engineering, design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), supplier capabilities, materials utilization, and design alternatives for value optimization.
  • Manage product cost to target on projects with moderate complexity.
  • Set future cost estimates for items to be used in ROI calculations and decision-making.
  • Prepare supporting documentation (cost estimates) for project milestone reviews.
  • Supply analyzed cost data to Division Engineering, Plant Engineering/Operations, Marketing, and Finance for project direction, product pricing, budgeting, and internal rate of return calculations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, strategic sourcing, advanced manufacturing engineers, and other resources to maintain leading-edge knowledge of available processes.
  • Lead cost avoidance, cost reduction, and standardization efforts.
  • Develop cost estimates and pricing proposals, understanding cost models and the interconnectedness of product, labor, freight, and assembly rates.
  • Administer product costing models and standardized costing procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in engineering, industrial technology, finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in costing future products, product development, or cost-related roles.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in reading, comprehending, and applying engineering specifications and blueprints.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, bills of materials, and product structures.
  • Knowledge of value engineering and DFMA principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset; makes recommendations to streamline processes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to influence leaders.
  • Intermediate Excel skills; proficiency in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization with evolving needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP experience.
  • Strong project management background.
  • Hands-on experience with DFMA and value engineering.
  • Cross-functional influence and business impact mindset.
