Cost Engineer - Estimator
About the role
The Cost Engineer will assist and provide documentation for change orders, including identifying change orders, producing engineer’s estimates, assembling contract change request packages, issuing RFPs, reviewing contractor’s estimates, negotiating change orders, and updating change order logs.
Responsibilities
- Identify Change Orders with client’s Contract Services Unit
- Aid in scoping of Field Condition Change Orders
- Produce Engineer’s Estimates for Field Condition Change Orders
- Assemble Contract Change Request packages for scope approval
- Issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) via client EPMIS system
- Produce independent estimates for non-field condition Change Orders to verify Engineer-of-Record estimates
- Review contractor’s estimates
- Act as lead in negotiating Change Orders
- Packaging negotiation documents
- Respond to auditor questions and comments
- Update change order logs as process steps occur
- Attend monthly internal change order update meetings and monthly change order update meetings with Contractor(s)
- Perform other assignments as determined and directed by the Change Order Manager / Estimating Manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a comparable field
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience

- Federal project experience
