Cost Controller - Construction

About the Role

As the Cost Controller, you will be responsible for implementation, training, oversight, and conducting Project Controls related practices for projects across MasTec Industrial’s operational groups. This is a traveling, project-based position with up to 90% travel time. You can be based in any U.S. city or state and may be placed on project sites anywhere in the country, typically spending 8-18 months per project. We offer designated per diem in addition to an excellent base salary to support living expenses, mobilization support (including mileage reimbursement), and one longer weekend every four weeks for additional time at home.

Responsibilities

• Establish Project Budget, Change Management, and Progress Measurement Programs.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Cost Forecasting and Trend Analysis for large or small projects.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Progress and Performance Analysis and Forecasting for labor.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Cost Forecasting for all Cost Types.
• Author and update the Cost, Progress, and Change Management narratives in weekly and monthly reports.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of compliance and Project Controls oversight throughout the lifecycle of a project.
• Ensure client Project Management meets project reporting requirements.
• Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
• Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on-site.
• Set a personal example of safe behavior.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related technical major; equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of Project Controls Cost Analysis or related work experience preferred.
• Professional Level Certification (AACE, PMI, or other) a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
• Working knowledge of InEight and Vista (Cost) or InEight and P6 (Schedule).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting Engineering and Contract documents.
• Understanding and knowledge of complex Earned Value and Cost Control Methods.
• Organizational skills and ability to manage simultaneous tasks/assignments.
• Exceptional team-building skills and ability to collaborate with groups throughout the company.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to comprehend complex assignments and work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

• Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
• Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully.
• Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
• Stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several-hour intervals.
• Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest).
• Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• Work at heights and abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; wear and utilize all required safety equipment.
• Evaluate information based on measurable standards; see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
• Keep good balance and work at heights.
• See well (either naturally or with correction).
• Hear well (either naturally or with correction).
• Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

Pay

$75,000 - 120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
