Job Description
The Supply Chain Cost Manager is responsible for delivering financial insight and analytical support across manufacturing and supply chain operations. This role integrates cost accounting expertise with forward-looking financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis to support operational decision-making, cost optimization initiatives, and long-term business objectives.
The position leads and develops a team of 2–3 Finance and Accounting professionals and ensures accurate, timely financial reporting while maintaining strong partnerships with operations and supply chain leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing, transportation, and overhead costs to identify trends, variances, and cost-optimization opportunities.
- Maintain accurate product and supply chain costs, including materials, labor, overhead, and freight.
- Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate, complete, and timely month-end financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze cost and operational performance reporting, including KPI dashboards and variance explanations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing and supply chain operations.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate sourcing decisions, volume changes, and operational initiatives.
- Partner with operations, procurement, and supply chain teams to provide financial insight for strategic and pricing decisions.
- Analyze inventory performance, support inventory planning initiatives, and ensure accurate inventory valuation and controls.
- Drive process improvements and best practices in cost accounting, forecasting, and supply chain financial reporting.
Job Requirements

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and financial information
- Proficiency in cost accounting principles and practices
- People management experience, including oversight and development of Finance and Accounting staff, is preferred
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Valid driver’s license, driving record within policy guidelines, and insurance that meets company requirements
- Able to occasionally travel, as business needs require
