Cost Accounting Manager
Job Description
Maintains accounting and reporting procedures resulting in accurate product costs, providing operations performance reporting, ensuring product inventories and manufacturing assets are adequately safeguarded, and financial reporting.
Occasionally interact with Global Supply Chain, Global Procurement, Research and Development, BD Excellence, and other General & Administrative functions.
Drives change, as needed, to ensure compliance with GAAP/SOX, reviewing and delivering recommendations for continuous improvement, and clearly communicating relevant fiscal information to executive management.
Supervises all financial activities associated with the US based IPD Sterilization Plant and report to the Assoc. Director – Operations Finance with a dotted line to the Nogales Plant Manager.
- Owes the annual budget and forecast processes, including development of standard costs
- Maintains fixed assets
- Ensures reserves are calculated appropriately
- Ensures manufacturing performance is accurately reported
- Handles financial support functions (Global Business Services) including internal colleagues and outsourced partners
- Pairs with the Manufacturing Directors and Plant Leadership to support finance-related operational decisions, ensure sound financial and accounting practices, improve processes as needed, and safeguard company assets
- Drives continuous financial improvement through business case preparation and review, inventory analysis, new product and product discontinuation analysis, and spending analysis
- Ensures that financial reports and records are prepared in compliance with US GAAP and BD financial policies
- Supports internal and external auditors during periodic financial reviews and implements agreed recommendations within assigned areas of responsibility
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on accounting and finance.
- Requires 5+ years of relevant dynamic accounting / finance experience in a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing operations, product costing, manufacturing variances and inventory control, financial analysis, and budgeting & forecasting experience required.
- Confirmed ability to lead and serve as an effective team member in a large organization including planning, developing, organizing, directing, managing, and evaluating personnel.
- Audit experience preferred.
- ERP experience – with a preference for SAP – is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of SOX controls.
- Knowledge of corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUPS, etc.).
- Demonstrated track record of managing increasing levels of responsibility, partnering effectively with senior leaders, and leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to improve controls and influence decisions through accounting knowledge and data-driven financial analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and at all levels of management.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed, challenging environment with strong attention to detail.
- Should be well organized and possess good analytical and social skills.
