Cost Accountant, I
Cost Accountant I Position Summary/ Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Manager of Cost Accounting, as a part of a cross-functional team, this person supports forecasting, cost and project accounting responsibilities.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Daily processing of contract orders and changes
- Monthly review and forecasting of less complex projects and other short cycle orders
- Maintain project budgets and revenue recognition in ERP systems
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures (GAAP)
- Test and implement special projects as required
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Meet regularly with Operations personnel to gauge project financial performance
- Publish various managerial accounting reports
Basic Broad Knowledge
- English Language
- Basic knowledge of cost and US GAAP accounting principles
- Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel)
Education & Experience
- BS degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or equivalent experience in a cost accounting role in a manufacturing and/or Engineer-to-order environment
- Experience with manufacturing environment a plus
- Experience with SAP a plus
