This role assists the company in meeting its objectives by performing the full-cycle accounting process as it relates to pay applications for specific projects, ensuring compliance with established accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, federal and state laws, and upstream contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review, understand, and develop pay applications in accordance with upstream contractual requirements through communication with accounting and project operations departments.
  • Review and audit accounts payable invoices specific to project pay applications, including vetting packing slips with vendor invoices for materials, equipment purchase orders, and discerning errors in quantities, unit pricing, and taxable vs. non-taxable scenarios.
  • Perform payroll audit and collection of payroll related data for the pay application process, with ability to interpret certified payroll reports and reporting obligations.
  • Ensure all timesheets, time cards, and other time reporting methods are fully completed, accurate, and approved by authorized managers, including payroll coding, employee classifications, and authorized signatures.
  • Prepare and customize various Excel reports, developing source documents for data feed to rollup Excel workbooks.
  • Develop project pay applications in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain employee confidence by protecting payroll information in accordance with company policies.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet exceptional deadlines.
  • Maintain accounting compliance with accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and other federal and state laws.

Qualifications

  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to meet fitness for duty requirements as may be required by upstream clients.
  • Ability to meet criminal background check requirements (seven prior years).
  • Must be work authorized in the United States on a full-time basis without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future (no F-1 visa holders requiring future sponsorship).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Construction Management preferred.
  • One to three years of related professional cost accounting experience required, preferably in the construction industry.
  • General accounting fundamentals and concepts required.
  • Strong understanding of related accounting practices and procedures.
  • Advanced working knowledge of accounting systems software.
  • Professional experience with certified payroll requirements and bona fide fringe benefits.
