Responsibilities

  • Cape each resident appropriately whether for shampooing or for haircutting.
  • Cut hair into a desirable style and then sweep hair up and dispose of properly.
  • Give the resident permanent waves when requested.
  • Style hair as requested by resident or family member using your best judgement. Advise resident or family members when questioned.
  • Unlock supply storage unit and get shampoos, rinses, conditioners, perms, etc. daily.
  • Return all supplies to cabinet and lock daily.
  • Clean perm rods daily.
  • Clean combs and brushes daily.
  • Fold shampoo capes and towels daily.
  • Answer the phone and schedule appointments in a way as not to interfere with others already made.
  • Take soiled towels back to laundry and place in proper area daily.
  • Fill shampoo and wave set bottles weekly.
  • Sweep the floor daily.
  • Empty trash weekly as needed.
  • Keep all Beauty Shop supplies locked up each night.
  • Clean standing dryer filters and dryer units occasionally.
  • Clean roller carts occasionally.
  • Coordinate hair appointments with nursing services so as not to interfere with their daily schedules.
  • Report burned out light bulbs, overhead lights, fluorescent lights by filling out maintenance work order sheets when needed.
  • Fill out cash/charge slips for each resident.
  • Fill out appointment reminder slips daily.
  • Fill out order forms when purchasing supplies and turn into accounting office.
  • Order supplies weekly or as needed.
  • Make a weekly work schedule.
  • Assist residents during meal services as needed.
  • Attend in-services, departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
  • Report any problems to your supervisor.
  • Assume accountability for data contained in employees’ handbook.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a current Cosmetology License from the State of Illinois.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be able to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

  • Monday-Friday
  • Hours are 7:30AM - 4:00 PM
