About the role

As a Cosmetic Bumper Repair Technician, you will repair damaged bumpers and vehicle bodies to factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards. You will work in an 80,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art collision center featuring advanced technology and equipment, serving all makes and models and collaborating with all insurance companies.

Responsibilities

  • Repair bumpers and components for Used Car vehicles.
  • Inspect bumpers entering the paint shop to ensure they meet all previous inspections and standards.
  • Prepare vehicles and parts for paint by filling small dents and scratches with body fillers to smooth surfaces.
  • Apply primer over any repairs made to bumper surfaces.
  • Achieve production objectives set by Management.
  • Maintain and wear all safety and protective equipment, including respirators.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials.
  • Operate and use all body shop equipment properly and safely.
  • Assist in all other areas of the CRC as needed.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order.
  • Maintain a high level of grooming, hygiene, and uniform appearance.
  • Uphold high ethical standards in all actions.
  • Transport bumpers and parts across campus using a motorized cart.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in vehicle repair or related field.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance related to vehicle repair.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical principles (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, and percentages) and their application.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to diagnose operating errors on a range of makes and models and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Skill in selecting the correct tools and equipment for the job.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Physical Demands

  • Stand for long periods.
  • Match or detect differences between colors, including shades and brightness.
  • Frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, precipitation, wind, noisy environments, and confined spaces.
  • Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Maneuver in various positions and environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remain stationary for prolonged periods, either standing or sitting.
  • Operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps.

Pay

Base hourly rate between $19.00 and $20.00.
