Responsibilities

• Operate power equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) safely and efficiently to locate, put away, stack, and move products daily. Tasks include stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product as needed.
• Monitor stock on shelves or bins, replenish stock from reserves, and maintain control of products in reserve or will-call areas.
• Receive product by unloading trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, or by hand.
• Inspect shipments for damage, verify quantities against orders and packing lists, and complete necessary paperwork for discrepancies or reimbursements.
• Ensure all products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing required paperwork.
• Fill orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking them to minimize damage, entering items into a scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Document the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing required paperwork.
• Prepare orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, loading trucks, and placing packing lists in the last skid.
• Maintain accuracy and efficiency standards, follow standard operating procedures, and participate in inventory cycle counts or related projects as assigned.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety rules, maintaining equipment, and keeping the work area clean. Report safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Wear protective equipment as required by company policies and access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) when needed.
• Maintain required certifications, including hazardous materials and forklift certifications.
• Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, maintaining a helpful and courteous attitude.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, adhering to company values and contributing to team success.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; 0–1 year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: Experience with pickers, forklifts, RF scanners, and inventory management systems.
• Preferred: Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry principles and practices, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures.
• Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain it on the job.

Skills

• Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to work safely and lift, push, pull, or maneuver large/heavy products or equipment within established safety guidelines.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures, organize and prioritize work, and attend to details.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment and complete routine paperwork.
• Proficiency in using RF equipment and ERP software.
• English proficiency (written and spoken) is required for safety, communication, and comprehension.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for much of the workday.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently required to lift and carry and/or move up to 50 pounds; may lift heavier weights with mechanical assistance or team support.
• For driving duties (if applicable), required to sit for long periods and may experience bouncing or vibration.
• Frequently required to talk or hear.
• Special vision requirements include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.
