Description

The Corrugator Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating corrugator equipment to produce quality corrugated board in accordance with production schedules, customer specifications, quality standards, and company safety requirements. This role may support various positions on the wet end or dry end of the corrugator, including setup, operation, quality checks, roll handling, cleanup, and general production support.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and work practices at all times.
  • Operate and support corrugator equipment to produce corrugated board that meets production, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Read and follow production schedules, order specifications, work instructions, tape measurements, and basic machine setup requirements.
  • Absorb and assist with roll handling, paper threading, splicing, paper changes, and other material handling activities as needed.
  • Verify correct paper grades, roll stock, sizes, and combinations are used for each order.
  • Monitor machine operation and make or communicate adjustments related to alignment, tension, adhesion, warp, and overall product quality.
  • Absorb with setup, order changes, and machine adjustments to reduce downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Inspect corrugated sheets during production to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Support daily production goals while helping control waste, maintain efficiency, and meet quality expectations.
  • Clean equipment and maintain housekeeping in the corrugator area, including workstations, starch/glue areas, walkways, and surrounding production areas.
  • Report equipment issues, quality concerns, safety hazards, or production delays to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and support other corrugator positions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, or corrugated industry experience preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to read and follow instructions, perform basic math, read a tape measure, communicate effectively, and work well in a team-oriented production environment.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, typically 8 to 12 hours per shift.
  • Employees may be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally; use hands and fingers to handle materials or controls; bend, twist, crouch, kneel, reach, and move throughout the production area as needed.
  • The role may involve working around moving machinery, noise, heat, dust, and other manufacturing conditions.
