What To Expect As a Corrosion Technician you will be responsible for providing corrosion control services to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements for pipeline and terminal assets in a specified geographic area. You will, under the general direction of the Corrosion Supervisor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair corrosion equipment for pipeline facilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulations. This role will office out of Wichita, KS. Travel will be up to 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Completing annual cathodic protection surveys.
- Completing rectifier and bond inspections.
- Testing and Troubleshooting CP systems using various types of CP equipment.
- Evaluating and providing recommendations to mitigate corrosion control issues.
- Utilizing PCS software to record, monitor and evaluate CP data and Internal Coupon Data to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Utilizing SAP for tracking PMs and WOs.
- Completing and issuing corrosion compliance reports.
- Maintaining and monitoring internal corrosion control systems.
- Coinciding the efforts of operation and maintenance personnel when they are providing corrosion control services.
- Coinciding the efforts of contractors when they are providing corrosion control services.
- Coordinating the implementation of corrosion control projects.
- Providing corrosion control support on integrated project teams.
- Preparing proposed budgets for corrosion control programs and track approved budgets.
- Participating in regulatory and corporate audits.
- Supporting IMP data analysis & assessments.
- Supporting Pipeline Integrity Programs.
- Participating with teams in the corrosion function regarding best practices & compliance issues.
- Achieving certification through technical experience, education, examinations, and references.
- Annually maintaining certification through professional activities and responding to emergencies as requested.
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Maintain a valid driver's license
- 2 or more years of experience with current corrosion control methods
- NACE CP Level 1 Certification
- Must live/relocate within 50 miles of the reporting location
- Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time
- Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even & uneven terrain
- To use hand & power tools
- To work alone a high percentage of the time
- To raise & transport supplies & equipment weighing 50 lbs
- To climb to the top of tanks & other facility assets
- To use work equipment manuals & maps
- To work outside in harsh weather conditions
Preferred
- Associate degree or higher in Corrosion Technology or related field
- NACE CP Level II Certification or higher or Equivalent Certification
- Advanced proficiency in SAP, CPDM, PCS or other Cathodic Protection Data Management systems
