About the role

As a Corrosion Technician (Senior/Intermediate), you will preserve the integrity of our pipeline systems and infrastructure. You will conduct routine field surveys, troubleshoot cathodic protection systems, and ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced-level support with installation, maintenance, and monitoring of corrosion control systems
  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing on facilities
  • Install, test, adjust, and/or repair rectifiers, anodes, and test points
  • Troubleshoot and repair interference/foreign contact problems
  • Perform continuity tests, soil resistivity surveys, and other special surveys
  • Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and/or repair cathodic protection tools and equipment
  • Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles
  • Complete and/or update reports and documents including:
    • Test readings
    • Atlas pages, maps, plats, and diagrams
    • Job orders and completion reports
    • Equipment maintenance reports
  • Compile, verify, and/or prepare financial information including:
    • Forecasted versus actual expenses
    • Governmental/regulatory reports
    • Financial reports
    • Reconciliation reports
  • Measure internal, external, and atmospheric corrosion per industry standards
  • Conduct environmental activities as specified by position
  • Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline
  • Respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions to prevent injury or property damage

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of related work experience in corrosion control
  • Experience and training relative to:
    • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures
    • Construction and maintenance activities
    • Locating lines
    • One Call System policies and procedures
  • Experience in use, function, maintenance, and repair of cathodic protection tools and equipment
  • Experience with facility/system operations
  • Experience working with pipe coating, basic chemistry, electronics, and metallurgy
  • Experience reading and interpreting maps, drawings, procedures, survey results, plats, atlas pages, rectifier reports, and applicable operation and repair manuals
  • Ability to apply basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions
  • Ability to work in confined areas and on elevated surfaces
  • Ability to react immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment as required
  • Ability to drive for extended periods

Qualifications

  • NACE Cathodic Protection Certification/Corrosion Certification preferred

Physical Demands

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, near and far vision, depth perception, and color vision
  • Occasional sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Constant reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, and use of CRT (Computer Monitor)

Working Conditions

  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Frequent exposure to:
    • Well-lighted, climate-controlled areas
    • Outdoor weather conditions
    • Wet or humid conditions (not weather-related)
    • Extreme cold and heat (not weather-related)
    • Dust, fumes, gases
    • Moving mechanical parts
    • Potential electric shock
    • Prolonged exposure to vibration
    • High-pitched/loud noises
    • Unprotected heights
  • Frequent repetitive motion

Travel

  • Travel to other locations and job sites required
  • Driving a company vehicle may be required (applicable driver’s license needed)

Pay

Expected salary range: $83,000.00 – $125,000.00
