About the Role

Operates with a high degree of independent judgment in planning, organizing, and completing assignments. Performs diversified duties and works with staff to ensure proper processing of all Correspondent Services activity. Resolves moderately complex problems involving Correspondent Services activity through research, contact with Bank customers, internal departments, other financial institutions, and service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains complete knowledge of all aspects and intricacies of Correspondent Services operations.
  • Handles administrative responsibilities with assistance from management.
  • Serves as a mentor and oversees the work of junior-level staff; ensures adherence to established job procedures by staff; assures distribution and timely completion of workflow.
  • Provides cross-training to staff on job responsibilities to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Provides quality professional services to Bank customers in resolving production or technical problems by offering information and assistance.
  • Investigates and resolves Correspondent Services activity discrepancies in Bank customer accounts, reporting escalated situations to management.
  • Interacts with Bank customers and various Bank departments to receive and review information related to DDA accounts involving ACH, Safekeeping, Deposit Services, overdrafts, and other activities affecting the account.
  • Remains current on National Automatic Clearinghouse Association, Federal Reserve Bank, and securities industry legislation, regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensures job procedures are documented, completed, and uploaded as necessary.
  • Completes the preparation and maintenance of a large variety of previous and current-day reports, submits them to management for review and approval, and maintains audit records.
  • Participates as an integral component of the Correspondent Services department Business Resumption Contingency Plan and actively engages in testing this plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of banking at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field of study.
  • Five years of related work experience in progressively responsible positions, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills; ability to negotiate effectively, interact professionally, and build strong relationships within the Bank and with external contacts.
  • Proficient working knowledge of personal computers, Excel, SharePoint, and Word.
  • Mathematical aptitude required to perform moderately complex calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with a high degree of accuracy while following established guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, work well under pressure to meet deadlines, and pay close attention to detail, as errors could result in significant monetary loss to the Bank.
  • Problem-solving skills to find and implement solutions to problems/situations, including the ability to make decisions and formulate an immediate plan of action to address potential problems and minimize or prevent financial loss to the Bank.
  • Demonstrates interest in working with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives that align with the Bank’s core values. Promotes an environment of empathy and respect to ensure the inclusion of all team members.

This position has been identified as “high risk” as outlined in the Bank’s Background Check policy. Individuals occupying this position will be required to submit to a background check biennially. Such repeat background checks are considered a “condition of continued employment.”
