Corrections Plant Mechanic - SCI Phoenix

The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as a hands-on Corrections Plant Mechanic. Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on boilers, compressors, and water systems to ensure proper function.
• Test water systems and maintain accurate logs of treatment supplies and results.
• Carry out seasonal start-up and shut-down procedures for chilled water and cooling tower systems.
• Inspect and maintain standby generators, fuel tanks, batteries, and related equipment.
• Supervise inmate workers, maintain safe and secure work areas, and monitor movement and tool control.

Requirements

• One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines.
• High school graduation or equivalent training.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Schedule

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
• No telework option available.

Pay

Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

Benefits

This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.
