About the role

Beltrami County is creating an eligibility list for Corrections Officer II and Corrections Officer I (Training Program) positions. Multiple openings are available with both full-time and part-time schedules; all are permanent, benefited positions. Full-time employees work seven 12-hour shifts in a two-week period. Females are encouraged to apply; this position requires duties for which female gender has been determined to be a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) under applicable law.

Corrections Officer I (Training Program) candidates will participate in an extensive training program designed to qualify them for the position of Corrections Officer II upon successful completion of the training and one year of employment. The role involves intermediate protective service and human support work overseeing the care and security of inmates at the Beltrami County Jail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee care and security of inmates at the Beltrami County Jail
  • Perform intermediate protective service and human support duties
  • Complete related work as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
  • For Corrections Officer II: Two years of post-secondary education in any discipline or
  • For Corrections Officer I (Training Program): High School Diploma or GED and two years of full-time work experience in any occupation
  • Ability to pass a physical examination and drug test
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including days and nights, following training completion

Pay

Corrections Officer II: Preferred hiring range $29.30 to $32.02 per hour, with a full range of $29.30 to $37.12 per hour.

Corrections Officer I: Preferred hiring range $27.65 to $30.20 per hour, with a full range of $27.65 to $35.02 per hour.

Placement depends on qualifications, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable policy guidelines.

Schedule
