About the role
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Corrections Mental Health Counselor 3 for the Monroe Correctional Complex located in Monroe, WA just outside of Seattle. The position is scheduled Sunday - Wednesday 10:30am-9:00pm (10:30-21:00) and requires on-site work.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health counseling services to assigned incarcerated individuals with clinical supervision and approval.
- Individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, mental health unit rounds, clinical case management, and mental health assessment.
- Emergent mental health coverage as directed.
- Document and treatment planning with clinical supervision and approval.
- Observations, interviews, data collection, and treatment direction.
- Timely and accurate reporting and documentation of services rendered.
- Completion of Mental Health Encounter Reports (MHERs), Mental Health Appraisals (MHAs), and Mental Health Updates (MHUs).
- Facilitation and monitoring of individualized Mental Health Treatment Plans.
- Case consultation and participation in clinical and administrative supervision meetings.
- Coordination and facilitation of transition and release needs.
- Attendance and participation in involuntary antipsychotic medication hearings and other duties as assigned.
- Informal education on mental health topics.
Qualifications
- Required: Certified Agency Affiliated Counselor (CAAC) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Psychology or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with relevant supervised experience.
- Experience in developing and providing individual and group therapies.
- Experience linking clients with resources within institutions and/or the community.
- Experience working in a collaborative multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Independent mental health practice license in Washington State.
