About the role

This position leads inmate workers in food service tasks and supports safe, efficient meal production at SCI-Camp Hill.

Responsibilities

• Vocational Training: Teach inmates food preparation, baking, equipment use, and safe sanitation practices
• Operational Oversight: Inspect food areas and supplies, adjust recipes, and ensure proper storage methods
• Work Supervision: Plan and review inmate assignments and maintain records of performance
• Custody Control: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during work activities
• Resource Management: Receive, store, and track food items and supplies using established procedures

Requirements

• Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or an equivalent combination of experience and training
• Ability to perform essential job functions
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Schedule

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
• Shift work with rotating days off; shifts awarded based on bidding and seniority
• No telework option

Pay

Starting annual salary of $49,010 (before taxes) for candidates new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
