Corrections Counselor - Juvenile (Open)
About the role
The Kind of Work Routine involves supervising residents detained at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center (AJC), a facility licensed by the Department of Corrections. The salary range is $26.07 - $39.42 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and security of the facility, juveniles, and staff.
- Counsel residents by modeling and teaching social skills, problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution.
- Provide direct care and supervision of residents in a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week (including holidays) facility.
- Perform security checks and manage crises and conflicts as they occur.
- Document daily activities.
- Deliver medication.
- Provide transportation.
- Aid residents in developing life skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age or older, or between 18 and 21 years old and enrolled or completed coursework in a postsecondary education program to pursue a degree in a behavioral science.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year full-time paid verifiable experience in a correctional facility, group home, behavioral health program, hospital security, treatment program, shelter, or a related field.

Pay
The salary range is $26.07 - $39.42 per hour.
Schedule
This position is a part-time position (FTE .75), with the opportunity to work up to full-time hours in most pay periods.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age or older.
- At least 18 years of age but younger than 21 years old and enrolled or have completed course work in a postsecondary education program to pursue a degree in a behavioral science.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Experience
- Experience facilitating groups involving teenagers, or in one-to-one counseling of teenagers.
- Experience working with clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
- Paid work experience working within a team setting.
- Experience using good judgment and being a good role model to justice-involved youth within a correctional facility.
