About the Role
Performs full-performance level work in developing and instructing courses of staff development and training in an established corrections training unit. Provides orientation, in-service, and specialized training for employees of the Division of Corrections and correctional officers in other agencies. May be assigned to provide training inside an institution which may involve a degree of bodily danger. Work may involve traveling to an institution.
Responsibilities
- Develop and instruct training courses for corrections staff.
- Provide orientation, in-service, and specialized training for correctional employees.
- Deliver training inside correctional institutions, potentially involving bodily danger.
- Travel to institutions as required.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience in a correctional setting may substitute for the required training.
- Three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid employment as a correctional employee or in a related field.
- Successfully completed study in criminal justice, corrections, behavioral sciences, or related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
