About the role
The Missouri Department of Corrections seeks individuals to serve on a classification team, evaluate offender attitudes, prepare recommendations, and process various aspects of offender management.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates the institutional adjustment attitude of offenders towards society and develops release plans.
- Verifies and collects information about offenders' home life, family relationships, and work history.
- Develops and maintains offender classification files.
- Prepares analysis for program eligibility determinations using classification systems.
- Processes offenders through initial file reviews, protective custody assessments, and updates enemy lists.
- Maintains open-door office policies, handles offender concerns, and notifies them of critical events.
- Facilitates offender programs, evaluates visiting applications, and provides pre-release counseling.
- Collaborates with public and private agencies, arranges calls, and assists in offender case planning.
- Performs work according to established rules and regulations under close administrative direction.
Requirements
- Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in related fields such as social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Pay
The annual salary includes a maximum security differential of $3,120 annually for full-time positions in maximum-security institutions. A $2.00 per hour shift differential and a $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential may apply depending on the shift and facility type.
Schedule
Shifts may vary, but typically include a mix of day, evening, and night shifts.
