Essential Functions
- Congregate religious services including but not limited to: Corps programs including Troops, Sunday School, Nursery, teen night (YPL) and young adult programs, Corps Cadets and Jr Soldiers, Sports and other midweek or weekend services as needed and as directed.
- Conduct or/and assist in group community meetings such as, Music classes, Annual Christmas Play, CCM, Encore and Bible Bowl.
- Conduct and support Women’s Ministry meetings including Home league, and other women’s ministry meetings, including Regional, Divisional, or territorial events, on or off campus, as needed and as directed.
- Aid in program management and successful operations, including but not limited to: Pastoring soldiers, Friends, and interested community members, Visiting Corps members and Community members, (including shut-ins) Driving for programs including VBS, Day Camp, Troops, YPL, Summer Camp, picking up donations or toys, driving seasonal workers, corps members and assisting in seasonal operations, and picking up materials or food for the corps, as needed and as directed.
- Aid in weekly meal prep, including but not limited to preparing, cooking, cleaning, sanitation, doing dishes, serving, packaging meals and meal delivery as directed when needed.
- Aid in program management and successful operations including but not limited to Business matters affecting and relating directly to assigned corps, maintaining fiscal integrity of the assigned corps (including complete and proper record keeping and security), and ensuring high standards of stewardship for funds, property and resources.
- Keep the PTM files for all volunteers up to date and make sure all have proper training and required paperwork in files.
- Aid in seasonal operations such as, Toy Drives, Food Drives, and Angel Tree, including Christmas sign ups, and other holiday events such as Harvest Fest, Easter Holy Week, and other holidays or special events, as directed and as needed.
- Maintain proper records, (including statistical, financial, PTM and all others required)
- Three times a week count income with unrelated person or with the officer and take deposit to the bank when Officer is not available. Sent receipt records to DHQ after every deposit.
- Maintain good public relations, function in harmony with The Salvation Army guidelines, promote, direct and support special events and activities for assigned Corps.
- Data Entry including but not limited to Gift-in-Kind, Stats, and Corps Management, Wellsky, and Kettle Web (Goldie).
- Answering the telephone, making phone calls, answering the door when available to do so, and interacting with clients needing services when needed, Good communication skills is a must.
- Aid in Fundraising activities including but not limited too Kettle Kick Off, bell ringing and other fundraising efforts for the successful operation of the Compton Corps, as needed.
- Aid in social services programs such as food distribution, homeless services, senior programs, and other social services programs only when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Additional Education helpful.
- Basic computer knowledge and typing skills, including Word, Publisher, and Excel.
- Ability to use multi-line network telephone system.
- Minimum of 2 years ministry experience required, Salvation Army Ministry programs preferred, but not required.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Driving Test and pass MVR check.
- Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
- Must possess good relationship skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings.
- Must be committed to The Salvation Army’s Christian Mission and Ministry.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated and team player with excellent communication skills.
- Able to keep information confidential.
- Willingness and flexibility to learn and do new tasks, including but not limited to EDS and Canteen service.
- Knowledge of cooking and preparing meals, and a willingness to prepare meals for large numbers of people when needed.
- Must pass the food handling training.
Pay Rate
$16.90-$20.00/hr.
