About the Role

The Tax Accountant will be employed within the Finance and Accounting department of Glacier Bancorp, Inc. and will assist the Tax Manager with the organization’s tax practices and procedures. This position involves assisting in tax processes related to state and local sales and use taxes, personal and property taxes, Federal and state income taxes, other state and local taxes, and tax reporting requirements. The role also includes providing assistance on various tax-related projects, assessing new and existing regulations, and making recommendations for tax planning and procedures.

This is a Corporate position which may be located at an available bank division across our nine-state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, or WY.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage state and local sales and use tax compliance for Bank Divisions, including the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns using Corptax software.
  • Research and respond to tax-related questions, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate and assist with the preparation, review, and submission of property tax declarations for assigned jurisdictions and process property tax payments within the PTMS system.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provision and reporting processes for the Accounting Department, including the preparation of supporting workpapers and compilation of information for internal reporting and tax return preparation.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting federal and state income tax payments, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
  • Assist in writing tax manuals and procedures for different job duties.
  • Independently manage a variety of accounting projects as assigned.
  • Assist on various tax-related projects for the Tax Manager and Chief Accounting Officer.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Complete assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by the due date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting major (Required).
  • 1 year of experience in the tax and/or banking industry (Required).
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) (Required).
  • Knowledge of tax activities, internal controls, and reconciliation procedures (Preferred).
  • Understanding of applicable State and Federal tax regulations (Preferred).
  • Public company work experience (Preferred).
  • Experience with bank-related taxes (Preferred).
  • Experience with Silverlake operating systems of Jack Henry and Associates vendor (Preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification (Preferred).

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional travel required (less than 10 days per year) by automobile, commercial airlines, rental vehicles, and public transportation, including lodging in public facilities.

Working Conditions

Environment: Indoors, a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Pay

The entry rate for this position is $59,461.97+/year (calculated for Kalispell, MT). All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Washington Applicants only: $64,767.56 to $97,151.34.
