About the role
The Senior Accounting Manager serves as a highly technical accounting leader with strong operational insight, executive presence, and the ability to manage complex multi-entity environments. The role oversees the month-end close process, support contract compliance, and partners cross-functionally to deliver high-quality financial information to both internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and enforces financial controls, reporting timelines, and deliverables required under management agreements.
- Acts as primary accounting contact for client Board of Directors and external stakeholders, presenting monthly and quarterly financial results and translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences.
- Serves as the accounting lead for assigned CCRC third-party management contracts, collaborating with operations, Board, and finance leadership.
- Manages and oversees the full month-end and year-end close process for assigned Transforming Age (TA) entities, ensuring timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
- Ensures balance sheet integrity through rigorous reconciliation review and issue resolution.
- Serves as a senior technical accounting resource, performing research, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP within the FASB Accounting Standards Codification framework, and documenting conclusions for complex and non-routine transactions.
- Prepares formal technical accounting memorandums supporting accounting conclusions for areas including revenue recognition, lease accounting, fixed assets and capitalization, impairments, contributions and donor-restricted funds, and other significant or judgmental areas.
- Owns the preparation, review, and monthly sign-off of all balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring reconciliations are complete, accurate, properly supported, and maintained in an audit-ready state.
- Reviews and approves journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by staff, ensuring reconciling items are valid, timely resolved, and appropriately documented.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial packages for the affiliates or entities under your management.
- Promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age and demonstrates commitment to the Culture of Excellence.
- Serves as main contact for Executive Directors for the affiliates and entities under your management.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements with the assistance of your team members for all affiliates and entities under your management.
- Assists in other corporate functions such as intercompany transactions, investment accounting, Form 990 Tax Reporting, company projects, accounting research, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 7+ years’ experience in accounting experience, preferably in non-profit organizations.
- Active CPA license is required.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in client-facing roles, including working directly with Board members.
- 4+ years of people management or supervisory experience.
- Experience in multi-entity, regulated environments (senior living, healthcare, nonprofit, real estate preferred).
- Experience supporting external audits and complex accounting reviews.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, GAAP, and month-end close.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficient in using financial software and systems, including advanced knowledge of Excel.

Pay
The role pays between $130,000 to $150,000 DOE And Location.
