About the role
The Security Officer I plays a pivotal role in our layered approach to security by controlling access to our campus space and providing elite service to our fellow team members, clients, and guests.
Responsibilities
- Controls access to our campus space by verifying badges and issuing badges.
- Maintains surveillance of cameras to proactively protect our space.
- Uses metal detectors to screen for weapons.
- Utilizes common computer programs such as Outlook, Excel, and the internet to complete tasks.
- Conducts patrols and provides services to team members both on foot and in a vehicle.
- Communicates with fellow team members to identify and respond to several types of non-emergency and emergency situations with a focus on de-escalation.
- Identifies and reports hazards.
- Responds to and appropriately documents security related incidents around campus.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to work one of the following shifts based upon need: 5am-2pm, 7am-4pm, 1pm-10pm, or 10pm-6am.
- High School Diploma.
- Meet physical needs of the job.
- Must demonstrate good moral fitness and ethical standards.
- Outstanding verbal and nonverbal communication skills with a focus on de-escalation.
- Demonstrated ability to write incident reports.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent and sound decisions under stress while adhering to established policies and procedures.
Nice to have
- CPR certified.
- Prior security experience.
- Previous military or law enforcement experience.
Qualifications
