Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete payroll cycle across multiple locations and employee groups.
- Review, audit, and validate payroll data to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
- Maintain employee payroll records including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and status updates.
- Process payroll deductions including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
- Prepare and process manual payroll checks.
- Manage the payroll inbox and respond promptly to employee inquiries.
- Maintain payroll documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Partner with Accounting to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance regarding payroll taxes, wage and hour compliance, garnishments, and withholding requirements.
- Conduct payroll audits and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Prepare government reports and respond to agency requests.
- Process year-end W-2 and corrected W-2 reporting.
- Stay current on payroll legislation and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate employee information within the HRIS and payroll systems.
- Generate payroll reports and management scorecards.
- Complete annual compliance reporting, including EEO-1 and California Pay Data Reporting.
- Support payroll system implementations, upgrades, testing, and process improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency through automation and standardized processes.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to resolve payroll issues and support employee needs.
- Provide training and guidance to HR, payroll team members, and operational leadership.
- Recommend improvements to payroll workflows, internal controls, and policies.
- Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–5 years of progressive payroll experience required.
- Experience supporting multiple locations is highly preferred.
- Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of wage and hour compliance.
- Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems; Paycom experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred.
