Corporate Network Engineer III
This position is a key contributor in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and performance. The role involves installation of routers, switches, access points, firewalls, collaboration equipment, and third-party application hardware and software. As a subject matter expert for multiple network technologies, this role provides guidance to other network engineers and collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, the Network Team Lead, vendors, and service providers to architect, design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
- Stay current with networking products and industry trends, aligning GBCI’s network strategy with business leadership priorities and IT strategies.
- Collaborate with GBCI IT architecture, data center, and information security teams to meet networking and connectivity needs through service and process improvements.
- Work with solution providers to understand communications and service roadmaps, ensuring readiness for new deployments.
- Maintain accurate and current network documentation, including topologies, system configurations, IP schemes, routing, VLANs, DNS, and circuit information.
- Create configuration standards, deployment guidelines, and assist with vendor management for projects, support, and service delivery.
- Report on service quality, bandwidth, latency, system capacity, licensing, uptime metrics, and drive resolution for process inefficiencies.
- Design, implement, and support Gigabit Ethernet switching/routing (EIGRP & BGP), IPv4, and enterprise Wi-Fi solutions.
- Build and implement diverse wide area networking environments, including QoS for voice, video, and data networks.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical network architectures, including documentation, testing analyses, test plans, and risk assessments.
- Provide operational support for network and video solutions, including network layouts, traffic analysis, and capacity planning.
- Support Azure cloud networking initiatives (preferred).
- Work with internal and external customers to communicate architecture and technical solutions.
- Support hardware and software acquisition processes.
- Perform network engineering and architecture duties for a distributed wide area networking environment.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on projects with network requirements, completing tasks by agreed deadlines.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and service delivery.
- Provide Tier III network support, including complex incident resolution and broad-scale change requests.
- Mentor and guide Network Administrators and junior Network Engineers.
- Collaborate on troubleshooting, including port/protocol diagnostics, metrics, and log reviews.
- Provide technical support for Tier IV incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 7+ years of increasingly responsible professional work experience in computer science, information systems, or information technology.
- 7+ years of experience with Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper switching, routing, wireless, video, and firewall hardware, as well as routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and network troubleshooting.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining network infrastructure, including hardware and software implementation.
- 7+ years of experience supporting and/or designing highly virtualized cloud or private data center and WAN/LAN/Wi-Fi environments.
- Expertise in TCP/IP packet analysis using tools like Wireshark or tcpdump.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with logical troubleshooting from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model.
- Telecommunications industry experience (highly preferred).
Skills
- Subject matter expertise in network monitoring and administration.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Citrix, Fortinet, or Meraki hardware.
- Meraki Wi-Fi and SD-WAN experience.
- Working knowledge of 802.11 and Wi-Fi security methods.
- Working knowledge of MPLS, VLANs, VTP, and STP.
- Experience with IPsec, SSL, and remote access VPN solutions.
- Strong understanding of IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Radius, and other network-based services.
- Knowledge of network security best practices.
- Azure VPN, virtual firewall, and networking knowledge.
- Ability to deploy complex systems and contribute to technical solutions and administrative maintenance.
- Capability to implement critical projects supporting complex applications reliant on server functionality.

Pay
Starting salary is $98,243.80 per year (calculated for Kalispell, MT) and varies based on geographic location, years of experience, and educational background. For Washington applicants, the salary range is $107,009.76–$160,514.63 per year.
