About the Role

This is a corporate hybrid position requiring residence within commutable distance to the Chicago downtown headquarters office. Relocation assistance may be considered. The Corporate Maintenance Manager facilitates the timely progression of railcars through repair events, reviews and approves repair estimates, and serves as the primary point of contact for repair activities. The role leverages operational data and trend analysis to identify recurring maintenance issues, improve processes, and support automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews Billing Repair Cards for accuracy, compliance, and consistency across shops and the network.
  • Ensures repair charges are appropriate through data analytics and detection controls.
  • Ensures timely, complete, and accurate lessee billing for lessee-responsible repairs.
  • Escalates repair vs. scrap determinations based on approved parameters.
  • Drives timely movement of cars through the shop and serves as the primary point of contact for shops to obtain necessary repair information.
  • Resolves shop repair questions by utilizing internal resources.
  • Supports frequent analysis and reporting of common maintenance items, using data to identify trends and continuous improvement tactics.
  • Leads, executes, and closes remote and on-site shop audits.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with enhanced work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, preferably within the railroad industry.
  • Shop repair and/or equipment leasing experience preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Data analysis and reporting: ability to analyze operational, repair, billing, and shop performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset: experience identifying process gaps, documenting workflows, and improving outcomes.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with industry quality and regulatory compliance requirements, AAR Rules, FRA Regulations, and railcar nomenclature.
  • Self-starter with strong completion skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay

$101,250.00 - $123,750.00
