About the role
Incumbents perform moderate to complex engineering tasks with limited supervision and lead routine engineering projects. This role has no direct reports. This role will report within the Corporate Engineering structure and encompass all aspects in project management and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Aligns with and actively supports Amcor values by putting safety first in all situations.

- Determines customer's needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope.
- Collaborates with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification.
- Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacting vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.
- Manages project costs, project scheduling, and communicates pertinent data to appropriate areas for engineering projects which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.
- Completes Project Closeout and Postmortem Analysis for appropriate projects.
- Participates on continuous improvement / kaizen teams and leads teams as requested.
- Secures and maintains knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to Amcor products and equipment.
- Affords expertise and recommendations on manufacturing equipment needed to support the current business and enable capability for future growth.
- Optimizes cycle time to reduce scrap and energy use.
- Setup, troubleshooting, and quality inspection experience.
- Creates, and plans designs for mechanical machine systems.
- Performs testing and validation of mechanical machine designs and systems.
- Performs engineering calculations to support design and mechanical engineering work.
- Creates and reviews technical drawings, plans, and specifications utilizing computer software.
- Creates, and plans designs for electrical machine systems.
- Performs testing and validation of electrical machine designs and systems.
- Performs engineering calculations to support design and electrical engineering work.
- Creates and reviews technical drawings, plans, and specifications utilizing computer software.
- Conducts studies for small-scale projects pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
- Validates IE requirements for small-scale projects with multiple automation integrators and verifies that automation solution/proposals align with business strategies using Just-In-Time/Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Collects/Analyzes data for small-scale projects and works with the IPT to validate current state processes/flows to establish an accurate model of the operation of a system.
- Establishes Discrete Event Simulation (DES) baseline for small-scale projects and collaborates with the IPT to propose/validate future automation solutions that improve cycle time, WIP, bottlenecks, throughput, capacity, resource utilization, and production rate changes of complex production systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, CS&E, Controls/Automation Engineering or related technical field.
- 3 - 6 years’ experience.
- 30% travel requirement.
Qualifications
- Understanding of the Thermoforming Process.
- Familiarity with thermoforming machine brands.
- Ability to optimize cycle time to reduce scrap and energy use.
- Setup, troubleshooting, and quality inspection experience.
- Experience creating and planning designs for mechanical and electrical machine systems.
- Experience performing testing and validation of machine designs and systems.
- Experience conducting studies for small-scale projects pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
