Key job responsibilities
- Advises Amazon businesses on global trade regulations, with a focus on import compliance.
- Provides day-to-day trade guidance, tracks emerging regulatory trends, and helps shape Amazon's compliance policies and programs.
- Tackles complex, high-stakes global trade issues across current and future business models, offering strategic counsel to help expand selection to Amazon's global stores.
- Collaborates with engineers, program managers, and retail/logistics teams to support Amazon-branded products, technological innovations, and improved compliance processes.
- Import-related work includes tariff classification, country of origin, and customs valuation, as well as developing submissions to regulators and external stakeholders.
- Conducts legal research, risk analysis, drafts guidance documents and regulatory submissions, manages data review projects, and develops process improvements and automation.
Basic Qualifications
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of post-bar admission legal experience
- Experience with customs, import, and export laws
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience working proactively and independently, meeting deadlines, and delivering on projects and tasks
- Experience effectively managing a substantial and time-sensitive workload
- Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience with customs laws and regulations is preferred
Pay
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
USA, NY, New York - $169,300.00 - $229,000.00 USD annually
USA, WA, SEATTLE - $153,900.00 - $208,200.00 USD annually
