Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Corporate Counsel to join our ever-evolving Legal team and help shape the future of global commerce.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal guidance to business leaders and stakeholders on complex legal, regulatory, risk, compliance, commercial, product, and operational matters impacting our Platforms & Integrated business, including embedded payments and payment facilitator offerings.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and execute complex commercial agreements and legal documents while balancing legal risk with business objectives, including platform agreements, software and technology agreements, referral and reseller agreements, partner agreements, processing agreements, and other strategic commercial arrangements.
- Lead or support negotiations with customers, vendors, software partners, independent software vendors (ISVs), payment facilitators, platforms, referral channels, and other third parties, providing practical legal solutions that enable business growth.
- Advise cross-functional stakeholders on product design, partner and customer structures, transaction and fee models, go-to-market initiatives, operational processes, and commercial risk allocation across payment services and software-enabled commerce solutions.
- Manage claims, disputes, litigation, and pre-litigation matters, including directing and overseeing outside counsel when appropriate.
- Advises on legal issues affecting integrated and embedded payments, payment facilitator programs, financial services, software licensing, intellectual property, data privacy, procurement, and other legal matters impacting Global Payments' products, services, and operations.
- Support the business in identifying and mitigating legal risk associated with new and existing products, partnerships, commercial arrangements, and distribution models while helping the business scale in a pragmatic and commercially sound manner.
- Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations, assess potential business impacts, and provide proactive recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- 8+ years of legal experience providing counsel on complex commercial, corporate, regulatory, transactional, fintech, payments, or financial services matters.
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements and managing legal risk in a business environment.
- Experience advising on payment services, fintech, software-enabled commerce, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
- Demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice while exercising strong business judgment and working effectively with senior leadership.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting embedded payments, integrated payments, platform business models, payment facilitator arrangements, merchant services, software partnerships, or related payment services offerings.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks affecting payment services, partner-enabled distribution models, merchant-facing products, and software-enabled commerce.
- Working knowledge of intellectual property, privacy and data protection, software licensing, insurance, and vendor management matters.
- In-house experience supporting payments, fintech, software, or financial services businesses.
