Essential Responsibilities

  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure our employment practices are proper and well-understood within the company and to ensure compliance with regional legal requirements.
  • Drafting and maintaining numerous employment related policies that are required for global operations, including ethics, anti-corruption, anti-harassment and others.
  • Supporting the human resources team through operational guidance and process training.
  • Staying informed on employment and labor law issues affecting Talkdesk in our geographies.
  • Balancing competing priorities of various constituencies.

Qualifications

  • Law degree required and current license to practice in California or Washington State
  • Minimum of 5 years law firm or equivalent in-house experience
  • Demonstrated experience in international employment law
  • Superior writing and presentation skills
  • Superior communication and leadership skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, pro-active, requires little hands-on supervision

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

Pay Range: $179k - $270k
Other Types of Pay: Based on level and role the employee may be eligible for long term incentives in the form of equity and short term incentives of either bonus or commission.

Paid Time Off: Talkdesk offers an uncapped paid time off program for exempt employees and an accrual-based program for non-exempt employees; both are subject to manager approval and consistent with business needs.
Paid Holidays: Talkdesk offers 14 paid holidays each year.
Paid Sick Leave: Exempt employees have uncapped paid time off and non-exempt sick leave follows accrual standards; both are subject to manager approval and consistent with business needs.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Primarily office-environment work, extended periods of sitting or standing, computer-based work. Limited lifting, and equipment usage limited to computer-related equipment (keyboards, mouse, etc.).

About the Role

This position is responsible for providing expert advice on a wide range of employment and labor law issues including hiring, performance management and discharge, employment disputes/wrongful termination claims, disability accommodation, wage and hour, employee privacy and other relevant labor and employment matters. Additionally, the role involves managing litigation, overseeing all our employee form agreements, conducting training across all our geographies, supervision of outside counsel and liaising with local counsel. As a key member of our growing legal team, the attorney will help influence our operations and policies, ensuring compliance and best practices across the organization. This attorney must have strong leadership skills, be a thoughtful problem solver and a trusted business partner for numerous internal teams.
